One of the reasons we LOVE BVC so much is that we are like a big family and sadly, we lost one of our own Saturday (Feb.8th) night to cancer. Erin Heffner Ventress (known as "Heff") played at Univ of Alabama and had a stellar career, earning All-American honors and retiring her #8 jersey! She came to the Birmingham area about 8 years ago following college and started playing on our women's team, assistant at Univ of Montevallo and coaching club for BVC. Most recently she was the Berry MS 7th grade coach & PE teacher the last few years. When I say Heff was a phenomenal player, I mean it in every aspect...she pounded the ball with a quick and heavy hand (we were always glad we were on her team and not on the other side of the court), she was a leader on the court and commanded your own game to be elevated! Her laugh & competitive spirit were contagious!  Heff was only 30 yrs old and has been such a big part of the volleyball community and our own BVC family. We share this with you as this has been pretty devastating news!  #heffstrong
